Rainstorm

Meanings of rainstorm warning signals hoisted by the Hong Kong Observatory are as follows:

  • (a) Amber – gives alert to potential heavy rain, with flooding in some low-lying and poorly drained areas.
  • (b) Red and Black – warn the public or heavy rain which is likely to bring about serious road flooding and traffic congestion.
  • (c) Rainstorm warning signals are hoisted independent of other warning signals, including tropical cyclone warning signals and landslide warning signal.
