1. Accreditation Steering Committee  
    • Formulate the direction, strategy and pattern of accreditation system development.
    • Provide professional advice for the improvement of the accreditation standards, tools and process.
    • Handle appeal application.
    • Deliberate promotional strategy for accreditation system.
    • Provide advice in developing measures to ensure impartiality of RACAS.
    • Counteract any threats against impartiality.
    • The tenure of office of an accreditation steering committee member is 3 years. Meeting will be held 1 to 2 times annually and each meeting should have more than half of the committee members present.
    • Conduct internal audit at least once annually, of the impartiality, certification and decision-making processes.

  1. Accreditation Advisory Committee  
    • As a bridge between the government, industry organizations, representatives of non-governmental organizations and HKAG regarding the development of residential aged care accreditation scheme.
    • Provide opinion regarding the way forward in the development of residential aged care accreditation system policies in the perspectives of the representatives of the government, industry organizations and non-governmental organizations.
    • Provide professional opinion for the relevant improvement of residential aged care accreditation system.
    • Committee members have a term of office of five years, eligible for renewal.
    • Hold at least one meeting each year.

  1. Accreditation Committee  
    • Only Accreditation Steering Committee members are eligible to be accreditation committee members. Moreover, all paid staff of Hong Kong Association of Gerontology should not be appointed as Accreditation Committee Member.
    • Make decisions on whether RCHEs pass the accreditation.
    • Make suggestions on and supervise the procedures of RCHE accreditation, including “Good Practice”, improvement items, arrangement of reaccreditation and report format, etc.
    • Provide opinion for the improvement of RACAS certification standards, tools and procedures.
    • At least three members who do not participate in accreditation of the RCHE in must be present in each meeting.

    • Handle Appeals according to the appeal procedures of RACAS.
    • Provide the appellant with progress report and the outcomes.
    • The tenure of office is 5 years and it is renewable.
    • All the Accreditation Appeal Committee members should fill in the declaration of interest form.
